Miami (OH) Game Watch, Club Luncheon (10/5), ND Women Connect (10/15), Fall Crawl (10/14)

Hello San Diego Notre Dame Family:

Here are the events coming up in the next few weeks:

Miami (OH) Game Watch!
Saturday, September 30th, 2:00 pm (Pacific Time)
One of the most important things to know about this next game is that NBC is televising it on their NBCSN channel, so it will only be available to those who receive that network. If you’re one of those left out of this one, it’s the perfect weekend to join us at one of our game watch locations! You’ll see the game and get to hang out with your local Irish family. As for the interesting game tidbits, the Irish have only faced the Redhawks of Miami (OH) once before, prior to WWI (1909), a game the Irish won 46-0. The line on this game isn’t quite that large (Irish by 21) but it looks like the Irish are a good bet to come away with their 4th win of the season. You don’t need to be a club member, ND grad or even San Diego resident to join us for a game watch, you just need to love ND football. Here’s how to find us: Social Tap – Downtown San Diego adjacent to Petco Park • Crust Pizzeria – Carmel Valley • Rosati’s Pizza Pub – Vista

The Senior Alumni of San Diego invite all of our local ND family (seniors and not-yet-seniors) to attend October’s event, where they will welcome Summer Stephan, Chief Deputy District Attorney, San Diego County. Ms. Stephan will give a talk entitled, “Human Trafficking, Threats of Target Violence to our Schools and Community and the Exploitation of Children.” Please remember to RSVP if you plan to attend!

ND WOMEN CONNECT WINE TASTING AT HIGHLAND VALLEY VINEYARDS
Sunday, October 15th, 1:30pm
Highland Valley Vineyards: (15412 Bandy Canyon Road, Escondido, CA)
Event Cost: $15.00(includes tastings & snacks)
What better way to spend your Sunday afternoon than drinking wine with your fellow Lady Irish! Highland Valley Vineyards is a boutique vineyard/winery in the San Diego foothills. It is owned and operated by ND alum Ray Schnorr ‘75 and his wife, Jeannine. For more information and to register, please check out the event page: http://sandiego.undclub.org/ndwcwinetasting2017

9th Annual Fall Crawl (RSVP Link)
Saturday, October 14th, 11:30am – 5:00pm
Every year, our (mostly young) alumni compete with other local alumni groups in this annual tradition organized by the Duke club. Stops along the crawl will include Basic (starting point), EVTB, Knotty Barrel, Social Tap, and The Deck at Moonshine Flats (In that order). Your $15 ($20 at the door) includes pizza at Basic, a raffle ticket, and at least one specialty cocktail. Drink specials available for purchase. All attendees must be 21+ and sign a liability waiver upon arrival. The event will probably max out their 150 person capacity, so get your registration in early. You do not need to be officially a young alum to participate, by the way. Register at this link, and feel free to drop a note to our young alumni email so we know to look for you via the youngalumni@ndsandiego.org e-mail address.

Hello San Diego Notre Dame Family:

Here are the events coming up in the next few weeks:

After a tough Georgia contest, our beloved Irish hit the road this week to take on the Eagles of BC. Note that game time has been revised to a 12:30pm (local) start. BC is 1-1 and is #118 in scoring offense after 2 games with 16.5PPG (vs. the Irish at #54 averaging 34). The Irish are currently 13-point favorites and are sitting on a 5-game winning streak vs. the Eagles. To summarize, the quantitative analysis favors the Irish. Georgia Game Watch, Hesburgh Lecture (9/28), Club Luncheon (10/5)

Hello San Diego Notre Dame Family:

This is a great time of year – the students are back on campus, fall sports have begun, and the local Club events pick up steam. On the sports front, the football team starts the season 1-0, and Irish volleyball and men’s soccer are also undefeated. All three teams include students from San Diego, including two freshmen on the football roster, one on the volleyball team and one on the men’s soccer team! Check out UND.com for schedules, rosters and where you can see the teams compete on your TV (or PC). Good luck to all the fall sports teams, and especially to our local students! Here are the details on upcoming events, hope to see you at one or more of them!

Georgia Game Watch!
Saturday, September 9th, 4:30 pm (Pacific Time)
In the wake of a convincing win against Temple, our beloved Irish have cracked the top 25, entering the AP poll at #24. This week presents a great chance to climb a few more notches, as #15 Georgia travels to the house that Rockne built. UGA and the Irish only have one match-up in their long and storied histories, a January 1981 Sugar Bowl matchup in which UGA bested the Irish 17-10, so not much history to apply to this particular contest, other than an opportunity to even things up. As I write this, Notre Dame is the betting favorite, but the game is predicted to be close. Game time is perfect for having some great food among friends and watching a football game, so please join us at one of our three fantastic locations. You don’t need to be a club member, ND grad or even San Diego resident to join us, you just need to love ND football. Here’s how to find us: Social Tap – Downtown San Diego adjacent to Petco Park • Crust Pizzeria – Carmel Valley • Rosati’s Pizza Pub – Vista
