Wake Forest Game Watch, Halloween Candy Collection, Nativity Prep Thanksgiving

Hello San Diego Notre Dame Family:

In addition to the weekly game watch, this week we’ve got details on two of our more popular community service projects:

Wake Forest Game Watch
Saturday, November 4th, 12:30 pm (Pacific Time)
What a difference a year makes! Last year after 8 games, the Irish had won only three, and were headed for a first week in November loss to Navy. This year, our beloved Irish are 7-1, having lost by only 1 point to the current #2 team, AND we find ourselves in the running for a spot in the national championship playoffs. Awesome! This week we have another very winnable game vs. 5-3 Wake Forest. Probably nothing to worry about here, the Irish remain formidable on the ground (#6) which matches up well against the Demon Decons’ 89th-ranked run defense. Wake’s only notable stat is that they’re #1 nationally in tackles-for-loss (9.25) but even 17 TFLs didn’t result in a victory over Florida State. Bottom line, this should be a good game to watch the Irish build a comfortable lead, then spend the rest of the game socializing with your Irish family at one of our game watch locations. Kickoff is again perfectly timed for a late lunch. Whether you are an alumni, parent of a current (or former) student, or just love Notre Dame, we’d love to have you with us! Here’s where we’ll be: Social Tap – Downtown San Diego adjacent to Petco Park • Crust Pizzeria – Carmel Valley • Rosati’s Pizza Pub – Vista

Halloween Candy Collection
We need your help, as part of our service to the community we organize the pickup of Halloween candy from local schools.  This candy is then donated to a local charity that takes it to Tijuana to distribute during their Christmas celebrations. If you are able to pick up collected candy from a local Catholic school please email us at community@ndsandiego.org.

We need volunteers to pick up candy at each school/parish and then either drop it off at Church of St. Luke (El Cajon) for the Central San Diego locations, or at a house in La Jolla for the North County locations. Candy pickups will occur between Nov 6-15th.

For those interested in helping with the bagging of the candy for the distribution to Case de los Pobres, There will be a party to bag the candy at a house in La Jolla at noon on Sunday, November 19th.
