Bowl Game Watch :: Notre Dame vs Florida State at Prospect, 2:30pm Kickoff (Dec. 29) :: THIS THURSDAY

Irish Faithful,

Following a roller-coaster season, we have been blessed for the second-consecutive Christmas season with bowl matchup against an old, familiar foe: Florida State! Eighteen years after the Seminoles and Irish had their classic Game of the Century, coaches Jimbo Fisher and Brian Kelly hope to use the Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando as a springboard for turning these storied programs back into superpowers. Florida State leads the all-time series, 4-2.

Our Irish (8-4) finished with the next-highest vote total behind the Seminoles in the last AP poll of the season. This pairing marks our fourth in five games against an ACC opponent. We’re 3-0 against the ACC this year, but none or our prior opponents can match the toughness of the Seminoles defense. Florida State boasts the nation’s No. 4 scoring defense, allowing 15.2 points per game, including 9.4 points over the last five. Their defense allowed an FBS-low 2.3 yards per carry and rank second nationally with 81.8 rushing yards allowed per game to rank. Despite the lofty play of their front seven, FSU’s defense ranks 35th in points allowed, which should leave enough room for Tommy Rees to get the ball to team-MVP Michael Floyd. Florida State’s offense is one dimensional. While ranking 34th nationally in passing, FSU’s running game is ranked 99th. Look for our front seven to spend the afternoon harassing and teeing-off on junior-QB EJ Manuel.

COME JOIN US!!! (Children are always welcome)
Averaging 90 alumni, family and friends per gamewatch, Prospect Bar is a great place to meet old friends and make new ones. Prospect is dedicated to showing all televised Notre Dame Athletics. Their dining area includes lots of TVs, great sound, a full menu, and incredible views overlooking La Jolla Cove (especially at sunset). There’s plenty of street parking (free after 6pm) and surface lots in the neighborhood. Look for the ND Flag on Prospect Place!

ND-Wake Forest Game Watch at Prospect, 5:00pm Kickoff

Irish Faithful,

Saturday starts a three game stretch against ACC opponents (Wake Forest, Maryland and Boston College). Wake comes in at a surprising 5-3, including a home victory over 23rd ranked Florida State back on October 8. The Demon Deacons were picked to finish last in the ACC Atlantic, but sit just a game behind Clemson, who they play next week for the division lead. Coach Kelly hasn’t lost a game in November since 2007. Picking up on the gravity of the game for both programs, ESPN has decided to make this another prime time for our lads, our fourth of the year. COME JOIN US FOR THE GAME!!!

Averaging 80 alumni, family and friends through our first eight gamewatches, Prospect Bar is a great place to meet old friends and make new ones. Prospect is dedicated to showing all televised Notre Dame Athletics. Their indoor and outdoor dining areas include lots of TVs, great sound, a full menu, and incredible views overlooking La Jolla Cove (especially at sunset). There’s plenty of street parking (free after 6pm) and surface lots in the neighborhood. There’s no better place to catch a game! Children are welcome. Look for the ND Flag on Prospect!

ND-Navy Gamewatch at Prospect, 12:30pm Kickoff

Irish Faithful,

Ever since last year’s loss, I’ve had the sneaky suspicion that this week’s rematch against Navy has been circled on the football team’s calendar. With last year’s loss to the Middies fresh in everyone’s mind, not to mention last week’s performance against USC, look for an Irish squad hungry for a win and determined to showcase its talents. Character is determined by how you respond to adversity, and there’s plenty of fight left in our boys. COME JOIN US!!!

ND Club: ND-Purdue Gamewatch at Prospect, 5pm Kickoff

Irish Faithful,

Our Cardiac Kids once again showed poise and moxy in last week’s come-from-behind victory over a stout Pitt defense set to avenge their last-minute loss to Iowa the week before. In the process, Tommy Rees and Co. have righted the record to 2-2 and have the team squarely headed in the right direction, and our beloved Irish have a great opportunity to put together a winning streak and climb back into the top 25. This week’s game is the next stepping stone on that path as the Irish are sure to face a “spirited” Purdue fan base when they travel to West Lafayette. This is the second primetime of the season with Kickoff set for 5pm. COME JOIN US!!!
