The Notre Dame Club of San Diego is proud to announce the 16th Annual Notre Dame Club of San Diego Golf Classic. This year’s event will be held on Monday, July 23, at The Rancho Bernardo Inn. We are excited to have former Notre Dame and San Diego Charger kicking great John Carney as our distinguished guest speaker this year. As an added element to this year’s event, those not wanting to play golf have the alternative of enjoying a day of relaxation and rejuvenation at the renowned Rancho Bernardo Inn Spa. In addition to being a key defensive contributor for the Cincinnati Bengals, Chinedum Ndukwe has been a standout away from the football field.  In 2009, Chinedum founded the Ndukwe Foundation to share his passion for wellness with local youth.  His community is taking note, as he received the key to the city of Cincinnati earlier this year.  Chinedum has completed programs at Harvard University’s School of Business and Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. Chinedum had a standout career for the Irish.  He showed a nose for the ball on defense – recording 4 interceptions and 4 forced fumbles in a gold helmet – despite having begun his career as a receiver.  Chinedum was a prolific tackler as well.  Against Air Force in 2006, he recorded 22 tackles – the most for any player in NCAA Division I-A that year and the most for any Irish defender since 1979.  However, one of his more notable tackles came against Penn State in the “House that Rockne Built”:

It is with great pleasure that we look forward to hosting this year’s 15th Annual Charity Golf Classic! Our committee is working diligently to ensure that this year’s tournament is a fun-filled event for our Notre Dame family and friends. We are excited to announce that we will be having local reporter Rory Devine as our Master of Ceremonies for this year’s event. Rory has been a reporter for NBC San Diego since 1984 and a graduate of Saint Mary’s College. She specializes in covering stories about education, where her experience as a teacher proves to be most helpful, as well as serving as anchor for the weekend morning news.
