Young Alumni Pub Crawl

On Saturday, May 19 come join your fellow Notre Dame young alumns for a night out in Pacific Beach! We will be starting at Duck Dive. We will be staying there from 7:30pm-9pm, and after that we will be hopping and crawling to a few different bars in PB. It will be a night filled with fun. We can’t wait to see you there, and make sure to bring friends!

Duck Dive is located in PB at the intersection of Mission Blvd and Emerald St (previous site of Hennessey’s Tavern).

If you are runnng late, shoot Barron a text or call at 858 353 4431, and he will let you know what bar the group has crawled to.

Caling all young alumni and Irish fans in San Diego!

On January 7th, come celebrate the New Year for a second time, but this time with your Notre Dame family in the Gaslamp district in down town San Diego! We will be starting at El Vitral, a mexican restaurant and tequila bar (for those of you who have had too much fun with tequila in the past, don’t worry, they have all sorts of drinks).

We will be staying there from 8pm-10pm, and after that we will be hopping and crawling to a few different bars in the Gaslamp. It will be a night filled with fun! We can’t wait to see you there, and make sure to bring friends!!

Young Alumni Survey – Classes 2002-2011

Barron Nydam ’11 and Ellen McCready ’11 recently volunteered to serve as the Young Alumni coordinators and have organized events in Encinitas, La Jolla, and Old Town over the past three months.

Start developing a network of friends you can count on here in San Diego for years to come. It is well worth making the time to meet your fellow young alums. In years past, young alum events would sometimes attract 100 or more.

Barron & Ellen have prepared a survey for young alums that will take you just a minute or two to fill out. Let them know what it will take to persuade you to attend the next event.

Universal Notre Dame Night – November 9, 2011

On Nov 9th, the San Diego Club is is pleased to invite the local Notre Dame family to our annual Universal Notre Dame Night.

UND Night is an annual event where the local Notre Dame family gathers to break bread together, and hear about the latest news from back on campus, as presented by a prominent member of the Notre Dame staff.

For the annual “State of the University” presentation, we are privileged to welcome Mr. Joe Russo, Notre Dame’s Director of Student Financial Strategies.

Joe Russo has 42 years of experience in student financial aid, including the 29 he has served at Notre Dame. He has been a consultant to numerous organizations and was a charter member of the NCAA Committee on Financial Aid and Amateurism. He also has testified before congressional committees on major public policy issues related to student aid. Russo is co-author of several books, including “Paying for Graduate School” and and “How to Save for College,” both published by Random House.

This year, our UND night will be held at the beautiful Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice (IPJ) building on the USD campus. Dress is business-like (sports coats and skirts).

Admission prices are below, and include a three-course dinner (salad, chicken, dessert), wine, beer and coffee and Joe’s informative speech.

Young Alum: members ($40) and non-members ($50)
Regular: members ($70) and non-members ($80)

The Duke Club of San Diego invites you to Join Alumni and Friends of Duke (including Clemson, Notre Dame, and Purdue) for the Third Annual Alumni Fall Fall Crawl down 10th Avenue in East Village. The pub crawl kicks off at noon with check in, registration, and pizza at Basic. From there we will crawl down 10th Avenue to East Village Tavern & Bowl, Dirty Del’s, The Corner, and Tilted Kilt. Registration includes food at Basic, a souvenir, drink specials, and a chance to win prizes in our Pub Crawl Challenge.

Young Alumni Event: Rock Climbing at Solid Rock Gym on Sunday, September 25

Come join us at Solid Rock Gym in Old Town at 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 25 for a few hours of rock climbing. For $23 you receive a day pass, gear rental, and a free belaying lesson. After the rock climbing we plan on going into Old Town for some great Mexican food and drinks. We hope to see you there! $2 off premium draft beers, $5 glasses of wine, and 1/2 priced appetizers. We will gather for a few hours to enjoy a some good food and drink, and to get to know each other.

Beach Party Introduces Class of 2015

The evening of June 21st was true to San Diego’s “June gloom” reputation, so perhaps it was the free pizza that drew a good crowd to this year’s student & young alum summer beach party.  Members of the incoming ND Class of 2015 and their families joined other current students, young alums, and members of the Club’s Board for an evening of pizza, drinks, and conversation about the adventure ahead.  Held at Mission Bay’s Bonita Cove, the event was the first of two summer events hosted by the Alumni Schools Committee.  Along with the August Sendoff Picnic, the goal of these events is to introduce the newest members of our community to other local Domers – some of whom they’ll still have as friends many years from now.

Calling all Notre Dame alums!  We won it once….let’s do it again!  GAME NIGHT IS BACK!  Come join other ND Alums, SPARK (Boys & Girls Clubs “next gen” group), the Duke Club and Ivy Hour for “GAME NIGHT:  Part 2” on Thursday, July 30 June 30 at 6:30PM at Quality Social.  For questions, contact Brad Owen at alumnigamenight@ndsandiego.org

SPARK, in association with Ivy Hour and the Duke Club of San Diego, presents:

We’ll be gathering at Quality Social (789 6th Ave, Downtown) to play various games at the beginning of the evening and Sunset Trivia will be hosting trivia night for prizes and fun with your fellow alums and other young professionals!

This is a FREE EVENT!!!

In addition, special $10 VIP wristbands will also be available to those that reserve their spot which will be good for ANY BEER OR WELL DRINK at our dedicated bar until 9:00pm. (Limited number is available so sign up ASAP!)

Alumni Game Night Mixer

Calling the “inner-kid” of ND SD alums! We need you as SD Domers face-off against other collegiate alums at the First Annual ALUMNI GAME NIGHT MIXER!

Who: Various Alumni Clubs (At least 4 people per school to represent a team, but no limit to number of participants). Current schools “in the dance”: Duke, UNC, VA Tech, UVA, Clemson, GA Tech, Florida State, Notre Dame, Villanova, Syracuse, Penn State. On the Bubble: Purdue, Arizona, Cornell, Brown, MIT.

What: This evening will consist of mixing and playing various board games as groups against each other, with small prizes on the line!

Where: Quality Social, 789 6th Avenue, San Diego, CA 92101

When: April 21st
Games: 7:00PM – Finish
Hosted Bar: 7:00PM – 9:00PM

Why: To mix, mingle, have fun and determine Board Game supremacy!

Games: Cranium, Charades, Catchphrase, Trivial Pursuit, Family Feud, X-Box Kinnect

There will also be a variety of other games for people to play. Medals will be tallied by school (a la the Olympics) to determine the overall winner. Games that are slated to be included: Apples to Apples, Monopoly, Connect Four, Speed Scrabble, Twister, Card Games, Train Dominoes
